Canadian Firearms Safety Course
Whether you've had a lot of experience with firearms in the past, or have never touched one in your life, this is the safe and fun place to take your Firearms Safety Course in Edmonton and get your firearms licence!
Firearms are a big part of our Canadian history and our culture. Many people choose to get their firearms licence because they are interested in sport target shooting, sustainable hunting, or collecting (historic) firearms. The Government of Canada mandates that anyone who wants to own, acquire or use firearms in Canada must have a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL or RPAL). The Canadian Firearms Safety Course is the mandatory training program which permits you to apply your PAL (for non-restricted firearms), or RPAL (for restricted firearms). For an explanation on the whole process of acquiring your licence, please see our article: How to get your Canadian Firearms Licence

History
The Canadian Firearms Safety Course was developed in partnership with the provinces and territories, national organizations with an ongoing interest in firearms safety, and many firearms and hunter education course instructors from across Canada. This course was developed to meet the mandatory requirements of section 7 of the Firearms Act, and the contents are published by the Canadian RCMP. In accordance with the Firearms Act, a firearms safety course focusing on restricted firearms (primarily handguns) was developed and implemented on February 1, 1999. The legislation stipulates that individuals wishing to acquire restricted firearms must take the CFSC and the CRFSC and pass the tests.
All instructors must be certified through the Alberta Hunter Education Instructors' Association in order to teach this program.
